Our Founder

Sarah McCarthy, the visionary behind SoWhat Studios, has meticulously crafted her educational journey to gain a deep understanding of the natural world and its therapeutic potential. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Food Systems, with a minor in Plant Science from Rutgers University, Sarah possesses a wealth of knowledge in the intricacies of plant life.

Furthermore, Sarah has honed her expertise by earning a certificate in Horticultural Therapy from Rutgers University, delving into the specialized field of using gardening and plant-related activities for therapeutic purposes. Supplementing these achievements, she also earned a certificate in Medicinal and Economic Botany from Rutgers University, exploring the profound healing potential of plants.

Sarah's dedication to holistic well-being transcends horticulture. As a Certified Brain Longevity Specialist accredited by the Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation, she enhances her ability to address cognitive wellness in the programs offered. Expanding her skill set, Sarah completed a 200-hour multi-style yoga teacher training with Yoga Alliance in North India, integrating mindfulness and movement into the holistic approach of SoWhat Studios.

This diverse educational background forms the cornerstone of SoWhat Studios, ensuring that its programs are not only grounded in expertise but also infused with a fervent dedication to nurturing wellness through nature.

Sarah McCarthy is a proud member of multiple esteemed organizations, such as the AHTA (American Horticultural Therapy Association), MAHTN (Mid-Atlantic Horticultural Therapy Network), ARPF (Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation), and YA (Yoga Alliance).
